Employee Relations Representative

The Employee Relations Representative plays a key role in promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture by supporting day-to-day employee relations matters and labor relations initiatives. This role partners closely with HR leadership, managers, and employees to address concerns, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of operational excellence and excels at building collaborative partnerships with leaders across the company to support a high-performing, compliant, and engaged workforce.

Key Responsibilities Employee & Labor Relations

Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, navigating sensitive and high-risk matters with professionalism and urgency, while meeting SLA expectations

Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, providing expert-level consultation on employee relations matters including conduct, performance, discipline, and terminations

Partner closely with managers to assess workplace dynamics, ensure fair practices, and reduce risk through consistent policy interpretation

Guide and coach managers on documentation standards, progressive discipline, and best practices for employee engagement and accountability

Maintain active oversight of ER & LR cases and support resolution strategies that align with company culture, legal compliance, and collective bargaining agreements

Investigations & Compliance

Lead and manage formal investigations related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace misconduct, and other high-priority incidents

Conduct thorough interviews, gather evidence, assess credibility, and ensure investigative outcomes are well-documented, objective, and legally defensible

Draft clear, detailed investigation summaries

Maintain accurate records of investigations and disciplinary actions, ensuring case files are complete, confidential, and audit ready

Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements, employment laws, and internal policies to ensure lawful and equitable decision-making under Manager supervision

Lead grievance processes, including documentation preparation, representation during meetings, and resolution

Training & Risk Mitigation

Participate in delivering interactive training for managers and HR partners on topics such as workplace conduct, investigations, documentation, and labor compliance

Identify recurring issues within employee or labor relations cases and recommend improvements in policy, process, or training

Collaborate with the Employee Relations Manager on risk assessments and mitigation planning related to compliance or cultural concerns

Reporting & Documentation

Support the preparation of reports on employee/labor relations metrics, case volumes, and risk indicators

Maintain case logs and ensure documentation is complete, confidential, and audit ready

Support regulatory, legal, or audit requests with detailed documentation

Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration

Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve HR operations, employee experience, and policy compliance

Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with union representatives and business leaders

Maintain deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as internal policies, practices, and union contracts

Requirements Technical Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of multi-state employment law and collective bargaining agreements

Proficiency with HR Information Systems (HRIS) and platforms (UKG)

Ability to analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and measure the effectiveness of initiatives

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities

Analytical mindset for diagnosing challenges and creating actionable solutions

Adept at building trust and credibility with leaders and cross-functional teams

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred

2+ years of Employee Relations experience with at least 1 year Conducting full cycle investigations

Strong business acumen with the ability to understand organizational goals and align HR strategies accordingly

Experience in a legal cannabis market is highly preferred

Other Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age

Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer

Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities

Ability to get in and out of vehicle and walk up and down stairs during your shift

Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist
