Position Summary: Biostatistician Intern (PRN | Up to 20 hrs/week)
Looking to gain hands‑on experience in clinical research and biological data science? We’re seeking a motivated Biostatistician Intern to support our research and quality teams through statistical analysis and data‑driven insights.
What you’ll do
Assist with statistical analysis for clinical research and quality initiatives.
Work with biological and healthcare data sets.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support data‑informed decision making.
What you’ll bring
Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field.
Bachelor’s degree completed.
Working knowledge of R.
Strong analytical mindset and basic computer skills.
Self‑starter with a willingness to learn.
Requirements
Must be a local Arizona resident - NO exceptions.
PRN role (up to 20 hours/week).
First 90 days onsite at our Thomas Campus (20th St. & Thomas Rd.).
Hybrid schedule after 90 days (minimum 2 onsite days/week).
Great opportunity for graduate students looking to apply their academic experience in a real‑world clinical environment. The Biostatistics Intern is mentored by a professional PhD Biostatistician to gain statistical consulting experience and develop skills required to provide statistical services for clinical research and quality studies. Specific tasks include literature review, protocol development, sample size calculations, data cleaning, statistical analyses for various data types using R, results summary, interpretation of statistical estimates, and contributing to abstract and manuscript writing. The Biostatistics Intern may be included as a co‑author on conference presentations and publication.
Position Duties
Performs literature review of clinical studies and statistical methods.
Contributes to the development of research/quality study protocols, including statistical analysis plans and sample size calculations.
Imports data from various sources into R and performs data cleaning operations.
Performs a wide range of statistical analyses as needed to address study aims.
Summarizes statistical results using tables and figures, and interprets statistical results in the context of the study aims.
Writes statistical methods and results sections of abstracts and manuscripts.
Meets (in‑person or virtually) with study investigators and staff regularly to discuss completed tasks and plan future work.
Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
