Role Overview The Field Sales Specialist – Specialized Projects Team supports leadership‑directed, high‑priority initiatives for brands and key retail partners. This role blends field sales, store level execution, merchandising excellence, and relationship management to drive distribution, visibility, and performance across Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, and other strategic approved accounts. This position is not solely general merchandising coverage and is deployed exclusively on specialized in‑store sales projects and top‑priority field initiatives directed by leadership.
Responsibilities
Sales & Account Support:
Support assigned store level accounts and department managers through in‑store sales projects tied to broader account strategies.
Support new products and authorized items sales initiatives in grocery retailers throughout the territory.
Fill voids, support case stack deals, and secure secondary sales opportunities.
Develop, maintain, and strengthen positive, trusted relationships with principal clients, retailers, and distributor partners.
Serve as a brand ambassador and commercial advocate in the field, ensuring retail partners are supported and informed.
Field Execution & Merchandising:
Represent Green Spoon brands in stores through high‑impact merchandising execution, including:
Improving product mix and shelf placement.
Building displays and securing secondary placements.
Restocking inventory as needed to support sales initiatives.
Proactively support retailers, distributors, and select principals with resets, store openings, and special projects.
Conduct store audits to track new and existing placements, execution quality, and compliance with approved initiatives.
Maintain consistent, high‑quality communication with retailers, distributors, principals, and internal Green Spoon team members.
Accurately update internal tracking and reporting applications on a daily basis.
Product & Brand Knowledge:
Maintain a deep understanding of assigned brands and product lines, with knowledge comparable to principals.
Stay informed on category trends, promotional initiatives, and retailer expectations relevant to assigned projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Required / Preferred Experience:
Natural food and grocery industry experience required.
Whole Foods Market and/or Sprouts experience strongly preferred.
Experience working with distributors such as UNFI and KeHE.
Strong understanding of retail merchandising, resets, and in‑store sales execution.
College degree preferred.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong sales mindset with the ability to influence outcomes at the store level.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Self‑motivated with a positive, solutions‑oriented attitude.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Comfortable using digital tools and applications for reporting and communication.
Genuine interest in organic, natural, and mission‑driven food products.
Additional Requirements:
Reliable transportation to travel store‑to‑store and transport samples.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements.
Ownership of a smartphone and computer to perform job duties.
Green Spoon provides Microsoft Office Suite and company‑owned iPad for job duties.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
This role requires regular in‑store activity, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting products or materials as part of sales store support responsibilities.
This role also requires the ability to travel between store locations and perform duties in a retail environment for extended periods of time.
Leadership reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure alignment with overarching department goals.
