
Supervisory Recreation Specialist NF-03

Summary
This position is with the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program located at Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families.
Area of Consideration
You must live within 100 miles of Fort Drum, NY.
U.S. citizens, nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. are eligible.
Non-U.S. nationals must have lived in the U.S. or U.S. territory for at least three continuous years immediately preceding the start of federal affiliation.
Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) are included.
Responsibilities
Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
Executes recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage, including a variety of multidisciplinary events (e.g., social activities, tournaments, and other major programs).
Recommends items of supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
Assists with training new personnel.
Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff.
Basic understanding of budget and supply functions to prepare input and justification of funding for supplies and equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English).
Work experience or education directly relating to the duties to be performed.
Requirements
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
Meet qualification, eligibility and background requirements for this position.
Probationary period of up to one year may be required.
Complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation required.
Reassignment to other facilities may be required.
Work schedule will be irregular, with nights, weekends, holidays, and unique events.
