Title: Marketing Intern
Duration: 10 Weeks (June 1st - August 7th)
Compensation: Paid/Hourly
Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Purpose The purpose of KEMBA’s Internship Program is to provide students with a meaningful and enriching learning experience that helps them grow both personally and professionally. As an intern, you will gain hands‑on experience, build real skills, and learn how a financial cooperative operates within the community.
This program is designed to introduce you to potential career paths in the credit union industry while offering support, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to real projects. You will also learn more about financial literacy and the cooperative principles that guide our work, especially our commitment to education, training, and information.
Objective The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing department by assisting with content development, market research, event planning, campaign support, and generalist marketing tasks. This role provides hands‑on exposure to branding, advertising, digital marketing, consumer behaviour, event execution, strategic planning, and analytics. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on the intern’s skills and interests to create a meaningful and relevant learning experience.
Duties And Responsibilities
Conduct consumer research and prepare trend reports
Perform in‑depth competitive analysis
Observe in‑branch interactions and consumer behavior
Assist in planning and executing branch grand opening celebrations
Support KEMBA Live events and on‑site activation strategies
Provide content support for marketing and communication campaignsParticipate in strategy discussions and department initiatives
Contribute to the planning and completion of the capstone project
Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing project findings
Perform other duties as assigned
Capstone Project
Complete a capstone project that applies learned skills to real world outcomes
Present the completed project at the conclusion of the 10‑week program
Required Qualifications
Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or similar degree
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Creative thinker with interest in marketing strategy and consumer behavior
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Willingness to contribute ideas, take initiative, and learn new skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow established procedures
Physical Demands The physical demands listed below represent those necessary to perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
The intern is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds may be required. Vision requirements include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
