Senior Instructional Designer

Description The Senior Instructional Designer leads the design and development of curriculum and training materials for both employee and customer audiences. This role applies a wide range of instructional design techniques to create content that aligns with learner needs, organizational goals, and industry best practices. The designer determines the most effective delivery methods for each learning experience and ensures that all solutions support effective knowledge transfer and the company’s overall strategic initiatives.

Learning Strategy & Analysis

Conducts comprehensive needs assessments to identify performance gaps, learner profiles, and organizational constraints

Translates business goals into measurable learning objectives and system-level design requirements

Recommends the optimal blend of modalities (e-learning, ILT/VILT, performance support, simulations, workflow learning, etc.)

Instructional Systems Design & Development

Leads the learning design process using evidence-based instructional models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)

Architects learning ecosystems that integrate with the company’s LMS platform, data pipelines, assessments, and performance support tools

Creates detailed design documents, storyboards, prototypes, and user flows for high-impact learning experiences

Ensures accessibility compliance with standards such as WCAG

Develops learning assets using authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, Captivate, PowerPoint, Adobe Premier, Adobe InDesign, or similar platforms

Collaborate with SMEs, product teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure accuracy and alignment

Produces, edits and deploys interactive learning assets (e.g., video, animation, simulations, interactive content)

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Designs evaluation strategies to ensure effectiveness of deployed learning products

Analyzes learner data and performance metrics to refine content and improve system-level outcomes

Implements iterative improvements based on feedback, usability testing, and performance results

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or related field

7+ years of experience designing and developing instructional solutions in a corporate environment

Demonstrated expertise with instructional design methodologies, adult learning theory, and performance consulting

Ability to absorb and learn technical information quickly

Ability to effectively facilitate discussions and influence without authority in a team environment

Advanced proficiency with e-learning authoring tools

Ability to communicate effectively, orally, in writing, and through formal presentations

Demonstrated understanding of Learning Management Systems

Ability to adapt quickly to changes in goals and objectives

Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional initiatives

Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
