The Demand Planning & Strategy Analyst serves as a strategic partner to operations, sales, and manufacturing teams by driving advanced demand planning, supply network optimization, and data-driven decision making across the medical supply distribution network.
This role combines forecasting expertise, supply chain analytics, and process improvement leadership to enhance forecast accuracy, improve service levels, and optimize finished goods availability. The analyst will develop forecasting frameworks, guide planning processes, and provide strategic insights to support executive decision-making and operational execution.
The ideal candidate brings experience in demand planning, supply chain analytics, and cross-functional consulting, along with an understanding of the service-level and compliance expectations within the medical supply industry.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $145,000. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Network Planning & Optimization
Advise on and support the design and optimization of finished goods supply planning processes across the distribution and manufacturing network.
Translate demand forecasts into strategic supply scenarios and planning recommendations to guide production, procurement, and inventory positioning.
Identify supply chain risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities using data-driven analysis.
Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Logistics teams to improve planning alignment and operational feasibility.
Contribute to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes by providing demand insights, scenario analysis, and strategic recommendations.
Evaluate planning performance and recommend improvements to network efficiency, service levels, and inventory optimization.
Supply Chain Data Analytics & Performance Intelligence
Design and implement advanced dashboards and analytical reporting frameworks to support supply chain visibility and decision-making.
Develop standardized data packages and reporting structures for internal stakeholders and external supply chain partners.
Track and analyze key supply chain KPIs including:
Forecast accuracy and bias
Service level performance
Inventory turns
Obsolescence risk
Identify trends and insights from supply chain data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Lead initiatives to automate reporting and improve data governance to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accuracy across the planning organization.
Demand Forecasting Strategy & Modeling
Develop and refine statistical and business-informed forecasting models for finished medical supply products and kitted solutions.
Analyze historical demand patterns, customer ordering behaviors, and market signals to improve forecasting methodologies.
Incorporate strategic demand drivers such as:
new product introductions
product lifecycle transitions
regulatory impacts
market demand variability
Evaluate forecast performance and recommend continuous improvements to forecasting processes and tools.
Document forecasting methodologies and assumptions to support transparency, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
Customer & Commercial Forecast Collaboration
Design and facilitate a customer collaborative forecasting framework with key accounts and distribution partners.
Partner with Sales and Customer Service teams to align demand expectations with operational supply capabilities.
Lead structured forecast alignment discussions with customers and internal stakeholders.
Integrate customer demand signals, POS data, and strategic sales insights into forecasting processes.
Support relationship management with key customers through proactive communication and data-driven planning insights.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain consulting.
Experience working with finished goods planning in service-critical industries (medical supplies, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or similar).
Strong analytical and modeling skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and supply chain planning tools.
Ability to translate complex supply chain data into strategic insights and recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience supporting S&OP / IBP processes and cross-functional planning alignment.
Experience leading or supporting customer collaborative forecasting or CPFR initiatives.
Familiarity with FDA-regulated environments and supply chain compliance requirements.
Experience building dashboards using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Experience with supply chain planning systems such as SAP Integrated Business Planning, Kinaxis RapidResponse, Oracle Supply Chain Planning, or Blue Yonder.
