Full Time Contractor - Career Technical Education Instructional Designer
ACCEL Schools is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as the Career Tech Education Instructional Designer. We are seeking professionals that prioritize student learning, life skills, career-based interventions, and career development. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting‑edge 21st‑century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods.
Position Summary This position will be a full‑time contractor position for a minimum of 2 years with the opportunity to stay on longer if needed. The Career Tech Education Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high‑quality Career Technical Education (CTE) courses that align with national standards, industry‑recognized credentials, and workforce needs. This role partners with subject matter experts (SMEs), teachers, and school leaders to create engaging, standards‑aligned curriculum that prepares students for college, careers, and industry certifications. The Instructional Designer ensures that all courses are learner‑centered, accessible, and optimized for both online and blended learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
Course & Curriculum Design
Develop CTE course syllabi, scope and sequences, unit plans, and assessments aligned to state and federal standards
Integrate industry credentials, College Credit Plus (CCP)
Ensure courses align with labor market demand
Content Development
Build engaging instructional materials, including lesson plans, digital modules, assessments, projects, and labs
Develop resources for Canvas (or other LMS) with multimedia, interactive tools, and project‑based learning
Create teacher guides, pacing guides, and professional learning resources to support successful implementation
Collaboration & Compliance
Work closely with SMEs, teachers, and administrators to ensure technical accuracy and instructional quality
Maintain compliance with accessibility standards and best practices for online learning
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
Collect and analyze feedback from teachers, students, and administrators
Revise and improve course content based on student performance data and industry changes
Stay current with CTE trends, technology, and workforce needs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or teaching, preferably in CTE or career pathways
Familiarity with Ohio CTE standards, Perkins V requirements, and industry credential integration strongly preferred
Proficiency with LMS platforms (Canvas, Google Classroom, etc.) and digital content tools
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple builds across a 2–3 year roadmap
Excellent collaboration, communication, and writing skills
Knowledge of accessibility, UDL, and best practices in online and blended learning
Preferred Skills & Experience
Previous experience designing CTE courses in areas such as Business, IT, Health, Construction, Aviation, or Education pathways
Experience supporting teachers in implementing curriculum effectively
Ability to integrate real‑world projects, work‑based learning, and industry credentials into courses
Compensation and Benefits The annual starting salary for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 per hour with work limited to up to 40 hours per week unless otherwise approved. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
