Job Description The Instructional Designer I role involves spearheading the design, creation, and implementation of online classroom and technology-based training initiatives for the UF College of Pharmacy, Online Graduate Programs in Forensic Science, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Clinical Toxicology. The incumbent is expected to collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including university members, faculty and staff within the College of Pharmacy, and adjunct faculty. The responsibilities encompass assessing the training needs of the target audience, acting as a bridge between subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical experts to identify learning delivery requirements, and developing tailored programs to meet audience needs.
Lead the Development and Production of Courses
Developing and executing instructional design plans and timelines in collaboration with faculty and staff; this includes supporting the college's course production process in each stage of development with documentation, storage of course documents and assets, meeting deadlines and adhering to protocols within each phase of development.
He/she will collaborate with the DESS team to on various areas, including obtaining section number and other details as required each semester, assisting with partner university faculty and student additions to courses, setting up mid-term evaluations for classes, and other tasks as deemed necessary.
Conduct course reviews ensuring adherence to quality standards set forth by the university, college, and industry best practices.
He/she is expected to collaborate with the COP Video Production Services Team to ensure the creation of high-quality videos, lectures, and any other course content that supports the educational program.
The incumbent will aid faculty in editing and developing templates for instructional materials and adhering to copyright and accessibility standards as established by UF&QM.
He/she will assist faculty, TAs, and other staff with assessment and instructional tasks, including the construction and testing of exams and coordination with online proctoring services.
The individual will also support faculty in exploring and implementing innovative uses of course management system features and other teaching tools for online education.
He/she will set up e-learning course shells in Canvas using technical and pedagogical knowledge of Canvas instructional tools, layout, collaboration tools, assessments, storage and delivery systems.
Utilize course content design using third party solutions such as Articulate, Camtasia, SoftChalk, Labster, and other UF supported instructional technology tools.
He/she will manage the quality assurance and review processes for courses.
Technology and Design Streamline the Course Production Process. Responsibilities Include:
Demonstrating and providing training on design principles, pedagogy, compliance regulations, course goals, accessibility standards, and tracking learning outcomes.
Conduct training sessions for faculty, TAs, and staff on the effective use of tools adopted for teaching and learning in online platforms.
Assist faculty in achieving course/module objectives and realizing the overall vision for the course, ensuring alignment with quality assurance and post-production standards.
Consult with faculty through one-on-one meetings, group sessions, workshops, and informational sessions to integrate technology into teaching.
Develop, manage, and maintain online course design templates for the course management system. Develop graphics and PPT templates.
Responsibilities Include Provide additional support for the course production process.
Graphic editing, developing educational interactive activities, course template design, coding and storage, HTML and JavaScript coding of templates
Coordinating the capture of visual educational materials with knowledge of educational copyright regulations for photos, graphics and web-based content for pharmacy off-book/continuing education program
Work closely with the program director to establish critical dates, and any other additional support the program director needs for successful, aligned policies across all classes
Demonstrating and providing the training for design principles, pedagogy, compliance regulations, course goals, tracking learning outcomes, and develop.
Responsible for the development of informational resources, training sessions, and tutorials for faculty, staff and TAs focusing on course design and teaching with technology.
Assist faculty to attain course/module objectives and vision for the course to meet the quality assurance and post-production standards.
Project Management Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects with competing deadlines. He/she will provide responsive and appropriate customer service and timely communication to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include:
Provide accurate estimate of hours needed to complete projects
Management of course production process within agreed upon hours and scope
Provide responsive and appropriate customer service and timely communication to faculty, staff and other stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines and projects at onceTimely and accurate reporting of time through Teamwork
Educational Tech Support for Students Provide technical assistance to students, faculty and staff via phone, email and video conferencing as needed. Ensure that students and faculty can access all online course material and reply to any requests for technical assistance in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred
Master's degree in appropriate area and 2 years or more demonstrable instructional design and course production experience.
Demonstrated experience in online course development, the ability to develop effective instruction using any of several pedagogical orientations, and the ability to successfully work with faculty and instructors and other design team members with an understanding of the higher education.
Instructional Design experience with graduate and/or professional courses within the Health Science disciplines.
Canvas experience preferred.
Experience with the integration of multimedia tools used to facilitate online education such as Zoom and Kaltura.
Project management experience.
Must have a strong understanding of instructional design principles, learning theory, instructional technology, as well as student learning processes and familiarity with national trends and best practices.
