Position – EHR IT Trainer / Instructional Designer Onsite, 12+ months renewable contract role in Richmond, VA.
W2 RATE - $38/hr
Responsibilities The Application Trainer is responsible for delivering effective end-user training for the Electronic Health Records application to ensure successful adoption, usability, and ongoing proficiency. This role designs, develops, and delivers training programs, documentation, and learning materials while working closely with Health Services, Health IT, and vendor teams.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver instructor‑led and virtual training sessions for new and existing applications
Develop and maintain training materials, including user guides, quick reference sheets, videos, and e‑learning modules
Customize training content based on user roles, workflows, and system configurations
Conduct training needs assessments and recommend appropriate learning approaches
Support application rollouts, upgrades, and system changes through targeted training initiatives
Provide hands‑on system demonstrations and facilitate interactive learning sessions
Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on application functionality and workflows
Collaborate with Health Services, Health IT, and vendor teams to align training with system capabilities
Maintain training schedules, attendance records, and completion metrics
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of experience in application training, software implementation, or user education
Strong presentation and facilitation skills for diverse audiences
Experience developing training materials using tools such as PowerPoint, LMS platforms, or video authoring software
Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, user‑friendly manner
Skills & Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities
Adaptability to different learning styles and technical skill levels
Analytical mindset with attention to detail
Ability to travel as needed for on‑site training sessions
Working Conditions
Combination of remote, classroom, and on‑site training environments
Occasional travel may be required
May require flexible hours during system go‑lives or upgrades
Required/Desired Experience
5 Years of Experience in application training, software implementation, or user education Required
3 Years of Strong presentation and facilitation skills for diverse audiences Required
5 Years of Experience developing training materials using tools such as PowerPoint, LMS platforms, or video authoring software Required
