Bakery Cake Designer

Responsible for decorating bakery items. You will assist customers with their bakery orders by the telephone and in person at the store. Additionally you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members. Reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager. Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, decorating bakery items in a timely manner, keeping current on new designs and trends, ensuring department standards are met, and adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines. Secondary duties and responsibilities include wrapping all product as necessary, assisting in other areas of the store as needed, and performing other job related duties and special projects as required. Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include the ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, do arithmetic calculations, file, post, and mail materials, copy data from one record to another, interview to obtain basic information, guide people and provide basic direction. Education and experience include high school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience. Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet with or without correction, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Working conditions include exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, residual fumes and temperature extreme. Equipment used includes mixers, ovens, turntables, tips, bas, airbrush telephone copy cake machine, intercom system. Has daily contact with the general public taking orders. Has weekly contact with suppliers/vendors. The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $14.00 to $17.50 depending on experience.
