Position Overview:

The

Psychiatric Medical Director

provides clinical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for psychiatric services across the Ampelis Health network. This role combines hands-on patient care with administrative responsibilities, ensuring high-quality, integrative, and evidence-based treatment delivery while advancing our holistic philosophy. The Medical Director collaborates closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, nutrition/mindfulness coaches, and executive leadership to drive clinical excellence, innovation, and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and medical direction for all psychiatric services across multiple clinic locations Oversee and mentor the psychiatric team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), and other prescribers Develop, review, and implement clinical protocols, policies, and best practices that align with our integrative/holistic model (e.g., incorporating nutrition, lifestyle interventions, and non-pharmacological therapies alongside medications and TMS) Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning for complex cases, including treatment-resistant depression Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensing, ethical, and insurance standards for psychiatric practice Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate biological, psychological, social, and spiritual contributors to mental health Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcome tracking, and program development to enhance patient care and remission rates Provide consultation, supervision, and training to clinical staff on evidence-based and holistic approaches Contribute to strategic planning, including expansion of services (e.g., TMS, ketamine, coaching integration) Serve as a clinical champion for the organization's mission of whole-person health and meaning-centered care Occasionally provide direct patient care (in-person and/or virtual) and participate in on-call coverage as needed

Qualifications & Requirements MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school Board certification (or board-eligible) in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in Utah (or eligibility to obtain) Active DEA registration Minimum of 2+ years of post-residency clinical experience in psychiatry, preferably in outpatient or integrative settings Demonstrated experience or strong interest in holistic/integrative mental health approaches (e.g., nutrition, mindfulness, lifestyle medicine, TMS, or ketamine) Proven leadership experience in clinical supervision, program development, or medical directorship preferred Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Commitment to evidence-based practice combined with innovative, patient-centered holistic care Experience with insurance billing/compliance and multidisciplinary teams is a plus
