The Sr Mgr External Relations supports the Director of External Relations in developing and executing strategic communications campaigns and company initiatives, and advises executive leaders on communications issues, strategies, and tactics. Oversees staff of site communicators in executing external communications and outreach to support all aspects of the company’s operations. Manages assigned communications projects, monitors issues within the respective region, and assists the Director of Communications to ensure plans reinforce workforce understanding and compliance with company policies. Assigns and manages communications resources as required, represents and backs up the Director of External Communications in their absence, and provides coaching, feedback, and motivation to staff. This is a multiple‑location posting. The selected candidate may be based out of our Exelon Corporate Office locations in Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, and Washington, DC. Primary Duties

Develop, manage, and execute strategic and external communications plans, including advanced media relations, coordination with stakeholders, and leading priority initiatives. (45%) Assist Director of External Communications in advising and counseling executives on internal and external communications issues and activities. (30%) Fulfill managerial responsibilities of external relations staff and participate as key manager in career development and business planning. (20%) Administrative management including budget and vendor relations. (5%) Job Scope

Must work continuously, effectively, and skillfully with the Director of External Communications and the communications staff. Position oversees and manages up to six communicators in the assigned region. Responsible for staff communicators and their activities. Requires significant outreach to media and other external audiences. Requires ability to work independently and in conjunction with the Director of Communications, represent and back up lead as necessary. Requires ability to travel. Minimum Qualifications

4‑year relevant degree and a minimum of 10 or more years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related field. Principal or leadership management experience. Advanced media relations, writing, and editing skills. In lieu of degree, 12‑15 years of relevant experience. Strong interpersonal communication and management skills. A high level of self‑motivation and independence will be critical. Strong presentation skills. Strategic thinking ability; self‑motivation; organizational sensitivity. Excellent follow‑through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others. Demonstrated managerial experience. Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear site, as applicable. 3‑5 years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline. Benefits

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience: $140,000.00/Yr. – $192,500.00/Yr. plus an additional $25K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually.
