Collinsville Building & Loan Association is a small, relationship-focused community financial institution seeking a motivated and dependable professional to join our team as a Lead Teller / Universal Banker. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service while supporting daily transaction operations. The Lead Teller / Universal Banker performs teller and deposit servicing functions with a high degree of accuracy while serving as a resource and operational leader for frontline staff. The ideal candidate is disciplined, customer-focused, and proactive in identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships through the Association’s products and services.

Lead Teller/Universal Banker must be able to:

Provide superior customer service promptly, efficiently, and accurately.

Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, managers, directors & external contacts.

Demonstrate strong attention to detail and operational accuracy.

Work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Follow Association policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to team meetings and organization culture in a positive and meaningful manner.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Customer Service & Relationship Development

Deliver exceptional customer service in a professional, prompt, and accurate manner.

Develop strong knowledge of Association products and services to effectively identify opportunities that enhance customer relationships.

Assist customers with deposit accounts, service requests, and general banking inquiries.

Provide guidance on digital banking services and other account features.

Represent the Association in community activities and Association-sponsored events.

Transaction & Account Operations

Process teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments.

Maintain accurate cash drawers and ensure proper balancing at the end of each shift.

Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and accurate transaction processing across teller operations.

Assist with vault operations including monitoring balances and ordering currency and coin.

Open, close, and service retail and small business deposit accounts.

Maintain flexibility in scheduling to support operational coverage including opening and closing duties.

Compliance, Leadership & Operational Support

Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements including AML, CIP, OFAC screening, and completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs).

Identify and elevate suspicious activity in accordance with Association policies.

Stay current on regulatory requirements, internal procedures, and assigned training.

Serve as a team lead for teller and transaction processing operations, assisting coworkers as needed.

Utilize sound judgment to resolve customer concerns and recognize when issues should be escalated.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strong fundamental math skills

Thorough understanding and demonstration of strong customer service skills

Retail experience, two years minimum (banking preferred)

Cash-handling experience, one year minimum

Applicants with IT experience highly desired

Computer and network navigation skills (including Microsoft Office Suite); experience with Excel a plus

College degree in Business preferred. (High School diploma or equivalent considered with experience)

Wages:

Pay for this position ranges from $18.00-22.00 per hour depending on experience brought by candidate

Compensation will be reviewed periodically in conjunction with Department of Labor rulings and during the annual compensation review process.

This position is classified as hourly, non-exempt under applicable wage and hour laws and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with Illinois law.

General Schedule:

This is a full-time hourly position.

Average 37-hour work week, Monday through Saturday.

You will generally have a full day off during the week.

Required attendance of monthly department and staff meetings (generally Fridays at 8:00 a.m.)

This position is not eligible for remote work.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
