
Public Outreach Specialist

Develop and execute Community Engagement and Public Involvement (PIP) plans.
Identify and maintain stakeholder databases, including elected officials, community leaders, businesses, and residents.
Coordinate and assist with public meetings, open houses, workshops, and stakeholder briefings.
Grassroots outreach and one-on-one stakeholder meetings.
Presentations & Communications Prepare and deliver professional presentations to community groups, elected officials, and leadership teams. Develop talking points, FAQs, newsletters, website content, graphics, and other communication materials. Translate complex technical information into clear, accessible messaging for non-technical audiences. Represent the organization at public events and industry meetings.
Reporting & Documentation Track, analyze, and document public comments and stakeholder input. Prepare comments and coordination reports, meeting summaries, and executive briefings. Monitor outreach metrics and evaluate effectiveness of engagement strategies. Maintain organized records of all outreach activities and correspondence.
Innovation & Process Improvement Identify and implement innovative engagement tools and technologies. Improve outreach processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Explore digital and social media strategies to increase community participation. Recommend new approaches for reaching diverse and underrepresented audiences.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, Planning, or related field. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Excellent written communication and reporting abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Experience working with government agencies, transportation projects, or infrastructure initiatives preferred.
