The Institute Relations Department at Atlas Network is essential for expanding our network of independent partners. We achieve this by building authentic relationships with think tank leaders, strategically investing in their work, facilitating their engagement with our wide range of training, networking, grants, and award programs, and offering personalized consultation to improve their excellence and strategy.
Position Overview:
Atlas Network is seeking a Grants & Awards Manager to help steward and strengthen our global network of partner organizations. This role plays a central part in the Institute Relations team’s grantmaking strategy, supporting high-impact partners around the world through thoughtful grant management, strong due diligence, and effective reporting.
The Grants & Awards Manager will manage regional grant portfolios, engage directly with partner organizations, oversee grant operations and compliance processes, and help translate grantee impact into compelling storytelling to key audiences. This position reports to the Associate Director of Grants & Awards.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining relationship management, analytical review, and operational excellence to ensure grantmaking systems run effectively and partners succeed.
Location:
Flexible scheduling with in-person and hybrid options available at our Arlington, VA office. Candidates outside of the DC metro area or unwilling to relocate will not be considered. Key Responsibilities: The Grants & Awards Manager’s areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Manage a portfolio of grants and awards across regional and thematic programs Serve as a primary liaison for partner organizations, providing guidance on proposals, reporting expectations, and opportunities for engagement within the Atlas Network community Recruit and encourage strong grant applications from qualified partner organizations Conduct due diligence and evaluate grant and award applications to assess organizational strength, program quality, and potential impact Review grantee reports to ensure compliance, completeness, and alignment with grant objectives Build and maintain trusted relationships with high-impact partner organizations Track and manage budgets for assigned grant portfolios and programs Monitor grant allocations and recommend adjustments to ensure funds are deployed strategically and within budget Oversee the grant and award disbursement process and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements Contribute to improvements in grantmaking systems, tools, and internal processes to enhance the experience for both partners and staff Impact Reporting & Donor Stewardship Serve as the lead coordinator for foundation reporting related to Institute Relations grantmaking Collaborate with internal teams to gather impact data and synthesize partner outcomes Translate grantmaking activities and partner achievements into clear, compelling reports for Atlas Network donors Support the Development team in meeting donor reporting requirements and timelines Data & Systems Management Maintain accurate records in Atlas Network systems, including Monday.com, Salesforce, and the grant portal Ensure strong data integrity and compliance with internal policies and data protection standards Support ongoing improvements to internal data management and reporting systems Additional Expectations: Domestic and international travel to Atlas Network and partner organization events, averaging 3-4 trips per year, typically lasting about 4 days each Close collaboration with internal teams including Development, Communications, and Training Qualifications: The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong communication and relationship-building skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability Analytical judgment when reviewing grant proposals, reports, and program outcomes Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to Atlas Network’s mission of advancing free markets and individual liberty A positive, collaborative attitude and enthusiasm for contributing to a supportive, fun-loving team culture 2+ years experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, nonprofit management, or think tanks Bachelor’s degree (concentration in economics, business, political science, nonprofit management, or related field preferred). Preferred qualifications: Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and data analysis and willingness to develop expertise in Salesforce Regional expertise and/or proficiency in a second language Experience working with international organizations or partners Competitive Compensation:
We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience and qualifications. Flexible Work Arrangement: This position offers in-person or hybrid work options. During the first 90 days, a minimum of four days per week in the office is required. Health/Dental: Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the Atlas Network employees health benefits program which includes health, dental and vision plans. Employees can enroll as an individual, employee and spouse, or as a family. Metro/Parking Allotment: Atlas Network provides metro reimbursement up to $135/mo.
