Social Media Manager Intern

Pulsewave, San Francisco, CA, United States

Location: Remote (SF, CA–based startup)

Type: Part-time, Unpaid Internship

About Pulsewave is an early-stage music-tech startup building analytics tools for DJs, artists, and venues to understand crowd engagement, track performance, and unlock data-driven insights from live sets. We are combining music, data, and product design to shape the future of DJ and nightlife analytics.

If you’re obsessed with social media, electronic music, and startup culture, this is a chance to get in early, build your portfolio, and have a direct impact on our brand from day one.

Role Overview We are looking for a Social Media Manager Intern to own and grow Pulsewave’s presence across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and potentially YouTube/Shorts. You will help define our voice, create content around DJs and nightlife culture, and engage with our early community of DJs, producers, and venue owners.

This role is ideal for a student or aspiring marketer who wants hands‑on, founder-level exposure at a fast-moving startup.

What you’ll do

Plan, create, and schedule social media content (posts, stories, short‑form video, carousels, memes, etc.) that aligns with Pulsewave’s brand and product roadmap.

Develop and maintain a weekly content calendar across key channels.

Research trends in DJ culture, music tech, and creator economy to inspire timely and relevant posts.

Engage with our community: reply to comments and DMs, interact with DJs and venues, and participate in relevant conversations.

Collaborate directly with the founder on campaigns around product launches, waitlist growth, and user interviews.

Track basic performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth) and provide simple reports and insights.

Experiment with new content formats and growth tactics to increase awareness and signups.

What you’ll learn

How to build a brand from zero in a niche B2B/B2C SaaS space.

How to position a music‑tech product to DJs, artists, and venues.

How to think about funnels: from social content → interest → waitlist signups → product usage.

How to collaborate with product, design, and marketing in a lean startup environment.

Who you are

Passionate about social media, music (especially DJ/club culture), and startups.

Strong written communication skills and a good design/content eye.

Familiar with Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn; bonus if you’ve grown your own page or helped a brand before.

Self‑starter who can take a direction and run with it, propose ideas, and execute without heavy supervision.

Comfortable with basic content tools (Canva, CapCut, Figma, or similar).

Currently a student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, or a related field is a plus, but not required.

Time Commitment

10–15 hours per week (flexible schedule, remote).

This is an unpaid internship; we can support course credit if your school allows.

You will receive

Direct mentorship from the founder.

Ownership over social strategy and execution.

A strong portfolio of real work with measurable impact.

Potential for future paid opportunities as Pulsewave grows.
