NELSON is seeking a creative, innovative
Graphic Designer II!
We’re looking for individuals with a strong talent for designing and developing corporate graphics, brand communication, visualization of conceptual ideas and signage packages; as well as formatting the presentations needed to deliver these designs. The Graphic Designer II is responsible for basic graphic design assignments and is responsible for working with the project team to provide design support primarily in concept development, planning, designing, and design production in all project phases. The Graphic Designer II works collaboratively with Senior Designers in the execution of design, and takes the lead role on specific projects where designated.
Creativity and proficiency with design tools (Adobe Creative suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) are required. Multimedia experience (i.e. motion graphics (Adobe AfterEffects), web UX (Figma) is preferred, but not required.) The primary focus of this role is supporting an in-house marketing team through graphic design; though there may be occasional opportunities to contribute to Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) initiatives for those with an interest in that area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Involvement in all project phases – from pre-design activities through design development.
Responsible for accurately implementing design tone.
Document and constructs files for production.
Participate in design charrettes and project team meetings.
Execute design intent for production at the direction of Senior Designer or Design Leader.
Actively maintain file server space and follows all file storage procedures.
Professionally interacts and communicates with clients, co-workers and vendors regularly and when necessary.
Handle confidential information and maintains confidentiality when appropriate.
Actively mentors Graphic Designer I, co-ops and interns.
Assist in the schematic conceptual design phases as directed.
Create image strategies for projects at the direction of Senior Designer or Design Leader.
Conceptualize and develop design details for multiple design directions for each project.
Coordinate and execute the development of boards, books and other materials for presentations.
Assist in production and documentation phases and occasionally takes the lead with direction.
Assist in the selection, coordination, communication, and timely follow-up with vendors and clients.
Required Knowledge And Skills
Ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of project deadlines.
Knowledge of expectations related to high quality service to clients.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of two- and three-dimensional design techniques.
Must exhibit knowledge of typography, color, scale, and acute attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of graphic production and documentation process.
Ability to clearly represent ideas through sketches.
Ability to assemble presentation boards and files based on input from others.
Must be resourceful, well organized and have good reasoning abilities.
Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities, be tactful, mature, and flexible.
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and demonstrate good follow through.
Must have excellent time management skills and must be deadline oriented.
Proven knowledge and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design field with exceptional knowledge of large-scale print, signage and wayfinding.
Intermediate proficiency within the Adobe Creative Suite; InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Sketchup, CAD Tools and MAC Operating Systems preferred.
Detailed knowledge of design systems, materiality, and integrated design.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, as needed, within the identified time frame and/or deadline.
Ability to provide high quality responsiveness service to clients.
Possesses basic knowledge of project budget and schedules as well as understands responsibility to adhere to set parameters.
Basic proficiency in Deltek Vision / Vantagepoint.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Communication, Marketing, or Interior Design from an accredited University plus:
Proficiency with design tools (Adobe Creative suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is required.
Multimedia experience (i.e. motion graphics (Adobe AfterEffects), web UX (Figma)) is preferred, but not required.
National Salary range: $50,000 – $80,000 (compensation factors are based upon years of relevant experience, qualifications/licensure, education, and location). Additional compensation includes bonuses and benefits. Bonuses can include but are not limited to: Long Term Incentive Plan, Short Term Incentive Plan, Profit Sharing.
