The position of
Grading Foreman
is based out of Brunswick, GA and requires an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Main Responsibilities
Supervises various phases of a grading operation in a safe and productive manner.
Reads and interprets plans.
Sets and checks grade.
Communicates effectively.
Implements environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.
Ensures safe operation of equipment and maintains it in good working order, including good housekeeping.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates daily activities and work assignments for the team.
Analyzes construction equipment and trucking requirements.
Maintains daily records of all significant project facts, events, and conditions.
Recognizes potential problems before breakdowns occur.
Works safely and follows company policies and procedures.
Instructs and trains employees and ensures worker safety.
Tracks and reports daily work hours for crew, equipment utilization, and quantities of work performed.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in roadway and site construction.
Knowledge of traffic control standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of and ability to operate grading equipment such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, scrapers, and rollers.
Short interval travel may be required.
Fluently communicates in English, both verbally and in written form.
Possesses a valid, current driver’s license.
Minimum of one year as Lead on a grading crew (preferred).
Knowledge of GPS grade control systems (preferred).
Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands include climbing onto and moving up and down a machine several times a day, operating it for several hours without stopping, withstanding vibration and noise, using arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions, and lifting and moving up to 60 pounds. Employees must have 20/40 vision and excellent hearing.
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, high places, and oxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels are usually very loud.
