Wisconsin Lottery, a division of the

(DOR), is seeking 3 motivated sales professionals with excellent communication skills to join our team. These positions are in the Retailer Relations & Sales Bureau as Field Marketing Representatives (Lottery Services Specialist -Senior). Our Field Marketing Representatives (FMRs) manage a wide variety of sales functions associated with developing and servicing lottery retail accounts. They travel to customer locations daily and visit all assigned retailer locations (e.g., convenience stores, grocery stores, bars/taverns, etc.) on a designated basis, using a state fleet vehicle. FMRs also establish sales goals and objectives, provide the retailer with a business plan, and assist the retailer to meet those goals for all lottery product categories.

Employees in the Lottery FMR position spend the majority of their work time on the road working with Lottery retailers in their assigned territory. This position includes a personally assigned state fleet vehicle for business use. Personally assigned vehicles must remain in the assigned territory. If the selected candidate does not reside in the assigned territory any travel to and from the vehicle must be completed on non-work time at no additional cost to the department.

Position 314631 is being filled in the following territory: Clark, Marathon, Portage, and Wood Counties. Position 326130 is being filled in the following territory: Milwaukee County (primarily the Southeast corner of the county). Position 326132 is being filled in the following territory: Adams, Columbia, Dodge, Green Lake, Juneau, Marquette, Sauk, Waushara, and Wood Counties.

Position Summary

This is an objective level Field Marketing Representative (FMR) that will develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate territory sales and marketing strategies and program plans for all assigned retailer accounts (e.g., convenience stores, grocery stores, bars/taverns, etc.) as well as recruit and train new retailers. This position will be responsible for implementing Lottery sales objectives as established by the Sales Bureau Director. In addition, FMRs will also give presentations and conduct training for existing retailers as needed. This position will independently visit all assigned retailer locations on a designated basis, using a state fleet vehicle whenever possible, approximately once a week to once a quarter, depending on the location's sales level and the need to improve sales performance. Establishing and achieving those sales and objectives and providing the retailer with a business plan and the information and assistance to meet those goals for all product categories is essential to the position's success.

This position will perform analysis, determine issues, and develop strategies to resolve field service problems and other issues related to retailers and players. Regarding the areas of sales and marketing, this position will personally address issues and problems during on-site visits, phone calls, or emails. Knowledge of Lottery policies and procedures and communicating those policies and procedures to retailers is required. The placement of Point of Sale (POS) materials, securing Lottery retailer events within their territory, and reviewing, understanding, and merchandising Lottery ticket vending machines are also necessary tasks for the position. This position is responsible for communicating pertinent information from and about retailers to all affected parties, including supervisors, other field staff, and any others as necessary.

Senior level positions will begin assuming additional responsibilities that could include some, working up to the majority, of the following: Manage an assigned small/non-Key Account chain(s) or group of retailers having one owner; assist with new employee recruitment and hiring; mentor new FMRs; assist in training new FMRs; fill in for FMR vacancies, serve on Division/DOR committees; provide secondary retailer training; train retailers on Lottery vending terminal operations, present to staff at FMR meetings/sell-in; provide new employee training/orientation (ride along); test new software and/or equipment; develop and create new efficiencies for retailers in the field; attend and assist with trade shows and other Lottery events; and assist with special events as needed.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Lottery Supervisor for the assigned Field Marketing Unit.

Salary Information

The starting pay rate for this position is between $35.36 - $38.69 per hour ($70,012 and $80,475 annually), depending on experience and qualifications.

The classification of this position is Lottery Services Specialist -Senior, which is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 03. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

Background Checks : Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.

I-9 Requirements : Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Probationary Period : A 12-month probationary period is required.

Special Requirements

Travel:

Due to regular travel requirements and the need to drive a state-owned vehicle to be able to travel to customer locations daily, must be eligible to drive a state vehicle by meeting the following criteria:

Maintain a valid driver’s license Be at least 18 years of age Have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years Be free from any OWI/DUI violations within the past year

Some overnight travel is required.

Lifting:

This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds from the floor to table, or cart during a sales presentation, and to climb a ladder with or without an accommodation is required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants

will have:

Experience in wholesale, route sales, commercial sales, merchandising, or persuasive sales. Experience with product marketing and/or merchandising (e.g., utilizing point of sale materials and display techniques, etc.). Experience monitoring or evaluating sales goals/quotas and/or having compensation based on meeting sales goals. Experience with basic Microsoft computer programs (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

Well-qualified Candidates Will Also Have

Outside field sales (outside of the office) experience selling products and/or services direct to retail. Experience setting planograms and/or securing space within a retail environment. Developing or revising sales goals/quotas/sales plan to increase revenue (e.g., grow new business, etc.). Experience creating new/ innovative ways to reposition products to increase product movement. Experience in convenience stores and/or grocery stores positioning or upgrading product displays.
