About the Role & Team:

Our team, composed of diverse talents from technical directors to performers, creates captivating experiences at Disney theme parks, resorts, cruise ships, and more. As a Lead Technical Production Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the spectacular live entertainment shows for Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide.
This is a Full-Time position where you will report to the Manager of Technical Direction.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Designers, Directors, Writers, Producers, and Operations teams to create and execute the design and technical elements of DLE Productions.
- Lead Design Assurance initiatives to ensure all technical elements meet company Standards and comply with Government regulations.
- Support Hazard Analysis and Issue Mitigation for design and technical components, working with local teams and government authorities for legal compliance.
- Contribute throughout the Show Life Cycle—from concept to development and beyond—ensuring safe and reliable ongoing operations.
- Manage project budgets, staffing needs, and scope of work reviews, including vendor qualification and construction methods.
- Engage in Creative Reviews, Design Reviews, and Production Meetings to provide valuable insights.
- Deliver field support during installation, acceptance testing, programming, training, rehearsals, and show openings.
- Assist with documentation support, including safety plans and as-built documentation.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of multiple disciplines, participating in creative brainstorming sessions when required.
- Conduct research for innovative materials, equipment, and methodologies to enhance project creativity.
- Identify potential risks and communicate solutions effectively to the team.
- Stay current with industry technology trends, participating in forums that push the envelope of technical innovation.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- At least 7 years of experience in a Technical Theater or Live Show Entertainment setting.
- Flexibility with work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- In-depth knowledge of operating and applying a variety of show systems and technologies, such as audio, lighting, video, rigging, and special effects.
- Experience with facility design, engineering, and construction processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey creative ideas effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various creative professionals.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Exemplary leadership, partnership, and strategic planning abilities.
- Proven ability to synthesize diverse requirements and focus project goals.
- Competence in researching technical design options to aid team decision-making.
- Ability to ensure consistency and quality in technical design documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be great if you have:
- A solid understanding of local building codes and regulations, particularly in the context of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.
- Experience in live show development with The Walt Disney Company.
- Familiarity with the Walt Disney culture.
- Knowledge of engineering disciplines including structural, mechanical, electrical, and software safety.
- A willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Proficiency in English and additional languages like French or Mandarin.
Education:
- A college degree or equivalent professional experience focused on theatrical design, technical production, and/or project management.
