Apprentice Machinist - Surgical Equipment Repair

Understanding the role of machine shop in the Agiliti business, developing understanding of machining practices and building competency in safely operating machinery to produce parts. Job Duties:

Operating within standard operating procedures (SOPs); completing daily work and maintenance documentation. Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Assisting in unloading received materials; Assisting in tasks performed within machine shop daily work. Understanding blueprints, raw materials, tool selection and measuring tools. Identifying worn and damaged tools and notifying the supervisor of issues. Ability to Identify different machining methods to produce parts. Machining of parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Finishing and Deburring of parts, utilizing buffers, sand blasters, and hand tools. Basic understanding of post process finishing such as heat treatment and anodizing. Basic machining concepts include speeds and feeds, thread cutting, knurling, drilling, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties. Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, fixturing and tooling requirements. Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet requirements, ensure conformance to specifications through use of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices. Assisting with preventive maintenance service on equipment. Adhering to ISO Requirements. Documenting work performed as per instructions. Maintains a safe working environment by attending safety training; turning off and locking out equipment not in use; cleaning and maintaining a clean work area. Maintain work area in good condition and to meet Visual Workplace (VWP) Standards Demonstrates solid time management skills to ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner. Promotes and contributes to teamwork environment. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Handles all other duties as assigned in order to contribute to the overall success of the company. Supervisory Responsibilities:

None Qualifications:

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills like those acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills and ability to navigate work required documents and Agiliti software. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Ability to lift to forty pounds required. Ability to stand for long periods of time; up to 80% of day. Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Accreditation from technical school or applicable skilled trades program preferred. Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Reasoning:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as measurements, diameters, and other basic mechanical calculations. Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves occasional lifting of materials and product up to seventy-five pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots. Loose hair, loose fitting clothes and jewelry may not be worn in the machine shop.
