Collections Specialist
Construction Industry (Temp-to-Hire)
Our client, a well-established construction-related company in Pasadena, is seeking an experienced Collections Specialist on a temporary-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a construction collections professional who is highly skilled in preliminary notices (prelims) and sub-releases / lien waivers, and who is looking for a long-term opportunity with a reputable organization. The Collections Specialist will play a key role in managing accounts receivable, protecting lien rights, and ensuring timely payment while maintaining strong customer relationships. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned accounts receivable portfolio and drive timely collections Prepare, send, and track preliminary notices (prelims) in compliance with state lien laws Request, review, and process conditional and unconditional lien waivers / sub-releases Follow up on past-due invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence Resolve billing discrepancies related to contracts, change orders, and job documentation Communicate with customers, project managers, and internal teams to address payment issues Maintain accurate and organized records of collections activity and lien documentation Assist with month-end close activities, AR aging reports, and collections reporting Support lien filings and escalation efforts as needed Ensure compliance with company policies and construction industry best practices Required Qualifications 3+ years of collections or accounts receivable experience within the construction industry Hands-on experience with preliminary notices, lien waivers, and sub-releases Strong understanding of construction billing cycles, retention, and progress billings Familiarity with lien laws and notice requirements (California experience preferred) Experience using accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, NetSuite, or similar) Strong communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities Pay Details: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
