Full-time & Part-time
We are hiring petitioners to gather signatures for two key ballot initiatives. The first will hold large corporations accountable and invest more money back into our communities, rather than padding the pockets of the rich. Secondly, we are building support for an initiative that protects essential services like emergency response and disaster preparedness for San Diego County. As a petitioner, you’ll help win practical solutions that improve emergency response times and invest in the community.
This is a chance for San Diegans to step up for each other and help shape a safer & better city.
Petitioners will canvass in busy public areas and engage voters in one-on-one conversations to gather signatures for these ballot initiatives. This job is all about connecting with people face-to-face, having meaningful conversations, and inspiring them to take action on important isses. We spend our days outdoors, in public spaces, to engage with community members.
This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.

Canvassing positions start at $27/hour. Team Lead positions start at $28/hour. We offer paid training, sick pay, and performance-based bonuses.
Most staff earn $50-$85 in daily bonuses.
Part-time and full-time positions are available.
We are hiring immediately.
Shifts run from 10:30-6:30 weekdays and weekends, with the possibility to work part-time or full-time. All positions run through Mid-May, with possibilities for advancement afterwards.
Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
Deliver a clear campaign message and collect complete petition signatures from voters
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
Follow the campaign’s safety protocols
The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
Manage a small group of canvassers in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
Ensure each canvasser has all the materials they need to be successful
Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work
The ideal candidate:
Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
Open to new challenges and interested in building their campaign skills
Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
Prior canvassing, petitioning, or field experience preferred but not required
