JOB SUMMARY The Ophthalmic Photographer Supervisor is a working supervisor responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Ophthalmology Clinic Photography group while actively performing ophthalmic imaging and angiography procedures. This role ensures high-quality clinical photography services, maintains excellent customer service for patients and providers, and ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures. The supervisor trains and mentors staff, manages scheduling and workflow, supports ophthalmology research imaging needs, and oversees staffing, performance management, and equipment maintenance to ensure efficient operations and high standards of patient care.

JOB DUTIES
Manages the Ophthalmology Clinic Photography group.
Maintains and ensures high level of customer service, including effective communications with staff, physicians, and patients. Directs and organizes operational and clinic processes. Executes effective system of internal controls to ensure processes are effective and efficient. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures. Recommends and/or implements changes as necessary.
Mentors, coaches, and trains staff on photographer/angiography equipment and practices to achieve a high level of performance and standards of care. Sets and prioritizes tasks and responsibilities. Monitors work for accuracy. Ensures adequate staffing for procedures.
Performs or coordinates photography for Department of Ophthalmology research protocols and fundus photography for new research projects in collaboration with other departments.
Responsible for interviewing applicants, hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination of employees. Completes annual performance reviews, recommends merit increases, and completes performance appraisals.
Ensures the photography group maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment is maintained. Recommends types of equipment and supplies to purchase and stock.
Reviews photography/angiography procedures with patients and follows up with them to answer questions, resolve any issues. Assists physicians with photography procedures. Works with community physicians to schedule procedures. Supervises coordination of photographic exhibits at conferences and meetings of ophthalmologists and ophthalmic photographers.
Maintains patient satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
