General SCB is an award winning multi-disciplinary design firm with a national presence. We are looking for a creative, passionate, and driven designer to work on mixed-use multi-family, mixed-use, commercial office and higher education projects in our Seattle office. We’re located in the heart of downtown Seattle in the historic Skinner Building, with easy access to Pike Place Market and public transportation.

Ideal candidates will exhibit a passion for design, show a willingness to work in a collaborative environment, and possess a good understanding of building materials, systems, details and construction techniques. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented and collaborative professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Principal. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, and other materials related to architectural design.

Essential Skills/Attributes Interested candidate should have the following qualifications:

Accredited professional degree in architecture

8 – 15 years post‑graduate, full‑time working experience in an architectural firm

Licensed Architect in the U.S. preferred

Type 1, Type 3, Type 5 multi‑family residential project experience

Commercial office and higher education experience preferred

Values superior client service

Passion for design, a pulse on emerging trends, and a developed point of view about your work

A strong design sensibility and attention to detail

Enthusiasm for utilizing a diverse set of approaches to creative problem solving

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, hands‑on, creative environment

Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Sketchup or Rhino, Affinity Publisher/Photo and Adobe Creative Suite

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases

Support the development of design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies as directed by project leaders

Assist with design, drafting, rendering, and the creation of digital and physical models

Understand the overarching project design philosophy in executing your work

Manage time and organize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines

Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly with all stakeholders

Demonstrate knowledge of building materials, construction systems, detailing and basic construction methods

Apply basic zoning, building, and accessibility codes to assigned work

Seek guidance when needed, while also showing initiative in problem‑solving

Support the project and studio team with a positive, team‑first attitude and a willingness to learn

Compensation

Salary: $85,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
