Job Summary Associates on the Public Finance team are strong individual contributors in the areas of analyzing, structuring, and executing transactions. The individual will have strong working knowledge of investment banking principles. They are responsible for performing industry research and preparing pitches, management presentations, and other written materials. Associates are not assigned new business responsibilities but will be an integral part of the deal team and may informally manage Analysts on the platform.
Essential Functions
Be a strong team member in support of business unit goals and objectives
Strong working knowledge and skills in analyzing, structuring, and executing transactions with a focus on technical analysis
Strong understanding of profitability components and investment banking deal mechanics
Actively participate in client planning sessions. Research and analyze data, preparing and presenting analytical information
Focused on product transactions/executions in addition to sales originations
Managing and executing tasks encompassing comprehensive financial modeling and valuation analyses
Possess a deep understanding of the financial impact of decisions on the client's organization
Partnering with sales/product team members, responsible for performing industry research, preparing pitch, management presentations, and other written materials using analytical skills
Associates are typically not assigned new business responsibilities and have limited/no client contact
Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.
Education
Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
OR equivalent experience (required)
Work Experience
1+ years of investment banking experience (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
FINRA License S79 within 1-1/2 Yrs (required)
FINRA License S63 within 1-1/2 Yrs (required)
FINRA License S52 within 1-1/2 Yrs (required)

Good written and verbal communication skills
Applies investment banking principles to structure and execute public finance transactions
Supports clients with financial insights and recommendations
Assists in structuring and executing municipal and infrastructure debt deals
Understands financing mechanisms for public infrastructure projects
Builds and interprets models to support deal pricing and valuation
Projects financial outcomes to support client planning and transaction structuring
Applies knowledge of municipal markets and public sector financing tools
Prepares and reviews financial documents and summaries
Interprets financial data to support structuring and execution of deals
Collects and organizes data for internal and client-facing materials
Contributes to client planning sessions with analytical insights
Prioritizes client needs and delivers tailored solutions
Understands how financial decisions impact broader organizational and market systems

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
