Role Description This is a full-time on-site position for an Assistant Public Defender located in Statesboro, GA. The Assistant Public Defender will be responsible for representing indigent clients in criminal cases by providing proactive legal advocacy and guidance. Day-to-day tasks include conducting legal research, preparing and filing legal documents, representing clients in court hearings and trials, negotiating plea agreements, and advising clients regarding their legal rights and potential case outcomes. The role involves interaction with courts, prosecutors, and other stakeholders within the legal system.

Qualifications

Expert knowledge in Law, Criminal Law, and Criminal Defense

Proficiency in working with Courts and understanding legal procedures

Strong experience in providing Legal Assistance and counsel

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple caseloads effectively

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in Georgia

Commitment to the principles of justice and serving the community
