Position Overview Section The Strategic Communications Strategist is a critical role within the AFWERX team, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs aimed at engaging diverse communities across the ecosystem, stakeholders, and industry partners. This role requires a combination of strategic planning, project management, relationship building, and communication skills to effectively promote the AFWERX mission and goals, and Director priorities to a variety of audiences, both internal and external, to address the most pressing challenges of the DAF.

Essential Job Functions

Develop and execute strategic communications plans aligned with AFWERX organizational priorities and initiatives.

Create and manage communication products across multiple platforms including social media, web content, presentations, press releases, and internal communications.

Coordinate with leadership, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop targeted messaging and outreach strategies.

Ensure communications align with AFWERX branding guidance, organizational objectives, and operational security (OPSEC) requirements.

Track and assess communication effectiveness using analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve messaging and engagement.

Support meetings, events, and outreach activities; serve as a strategic communications liaison for assigned programs or divisions.

Additional Qualification Considerations

Skilled in extending narratives across various media channels to achieve communication goals and objectives.

Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and evaluation techniques to measure the impact and effectiveness of communication efforts.

Ability to think critically and make decisions, pays attention to detail, and has a self-starter mentality.

Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.

7+ years of experience in program management, or related field preferably within a military or government context.

Secret clearance.
