Associate Sales Manager

to accelerate customer growth and new market expansion through strategic data-driven sales leadership.

This full‑time role is based in Lincolnshire, IL (north of Chicago) and transitions to

About the Role The Associate Sales Manager provides dedicated support to Mid/Small OEM and Distributor customers by managing orders, delivering technical guidance, and coordinating communication throughout the sales cycle. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and internal teams, assists with strategic sales initiatives, and independently plans and organizes daily work to align with corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities

Advise customers on orders, production status, delivery, technical questions, and product performance.

Analyze customer data and recommend solutions using engineering and product knowledge.

Support application engineering and submit/track pricing quotes through completion.

Leverage proprietary system for project management and quote processes.

Partner with the New Business Development team on new leads.

Recommend engines using internal selection tools.

Prepare monthly sales reports and order variance (GAP) analyses.

Collaborate with U.S. and Japan teams on technical topics and application techniques.

Assist in developing strategic plans, sales forecasts, and market share analysis.

Monitor customer purchases, sales, and inventory performance vs. monthly forecasts.

Support accounts receivable and collection efforts as needed.

Support marketing with industry research, competitive analysis, and technical insights.

Coordinate sales and technical support for trade shows and customer promotions.

Maintain organized, confidential records and communicate key activities to management.

Provide support to Sales Assistants and other departments as needed.

Follow all safety, departmental, and corporate policies.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of sales experience.

Understanding of engines and off‑road construction/industrial equipment.

Knowledge of project management concepts.

Strong multitasking, prioritization, organization, and deadline‑management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication; professional, tactful, and diplomatic.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities.

Knowledge of international trade terms (Incoterms).

Strong negotiation and closing abilities; self‑motivated and results‑driven.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Power BI.

Ability to travel up to 30%, including possible overnight and international trips.

Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily office‑based with moderate noise levels.

Occasional exposure to engine testing labs (moderate to loud noise, vibration, fumes) and warehouse areas with temperature fluctuations.

Travel by car or air required.

Ability to sit or walk for long periods; occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Manual dexterity and ability to use hands for repeated movements.

Ability to hear conversations, distinguish color, and view screens and objects beyond 20 feet.

Use of eye and ear protection when working around engines.
