The Copy Editor Expert is responsible for reviewing, editing, and refining written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established style guidelines. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the quality and integrity of all written communications across the organization.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, possesses exceptional language proficiency, and has extensive experience in editorial standards, grammar, and content optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and edit written content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax
- Ensure consistency with organizational style guides, including standards such as AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style
- Improve clarity, readability, and overall flow of content
- Verify facts, data, and references for accuracy and credibility
- Collaborate with writers, content creators, and marketing teams to refine messaging
- Maintain consistency in tone, voice, and formatting across all materials
- Edit a variety of content types, including articles, reports, marketing materials, and digital content
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Provide constructive feedback to writers to improve content quality
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and brand standards
- Assist in developing and updating editorial guidelines and best practices
Education
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field required
- Advanced degrees or editorial certifications are a plus
- 5+ years of professional experience in copy editing, proofreading, or editorial roles
- Experience working in publishing, media, marketing, or corporate communications preferred
- Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, and usage
- Strong familiarity with major style guides and editorial standards
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Proficiency in editing tools and content management systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to provide clear and constructive editorial feedback
- Annual Salary Range: $70,000 to $100,000 USD, depending on experience, industry, and qualification
