TheCityofChicagoDepartmentofCulturalAffairsandSpecialEvents(DCASE)supportsartistsandcultural
organizations,investsinthecreativeeconomy,andexpandsaccessandparticipationintheartsthroughout
Chicago's 77 neighborhoods. As a collaborative cultural presenter, arts funder, and advocate for creative
workers,ourprogramsandeventsserveChicagoansandvisitorsofallagesandbackgrounds,downtownandin
diversecommunitiesacrossourcity-tostrengthenandcelebrateChicago.


DCASEproducessomeofthecity'smosticonicfestivals,markets,events,andexhibitionsattheChicagoCultural
Center,MillenniumPark,andincommunitiesacrossthecity-servingalocalandglobalaudienceof25million
people. The Department offers cultural grants and resources, manages public art, supports TV and film
productionandothercreativeindustries,andpermitsspecialeventsthroughoutChicago.


DCASEoffersmorethan2,000high-qualityfreeexhibitions,concerts,theatricalanddanceperformances,films,
lecturesanddiscussions,familyeventsandotherprogramseachyearatvenuesacrossthecity.Eventsinclude
ChicagoHouseMusicFestival,ChicagoGospelMusicFestival,ChicagoBluesFestival,TasteofChicago,Chicago
SummerDanceCelebration,ChicagoJazzFestival.DCASEalsomanagesawiderangeofprojectsthatadvance
theCityofChicagoanditsvibrantneighborhoods.


DCASEreliesonvolunteerstoprovideinformation,leadtours,andengagewiththepublicatawiderangeof
freeculturalvenuesandevents.Opportunitiesinclude:


*ChicagoCulturalCenter:Tours(publicandprivate),InformationDesks,AudienceSurveys,andEventsSupport
-greetingandwayfindingforconcerts,exhibitionopenings,familyevents,LearningLab,WelcomeCenter,and
more

ESSENTIALDUTIES
*InformationDeskvolunteersserveasthefirstpointofcontactforguestsandanswerquestionsaboutthe



ChicagoCulturalCenterandevents,MillenniumPark,TasteofChicago,andgeneralquestionsaboutthecity
*ChicagoCulturalCentertourguidesleadtoursofthebuildings

*LearningLabandWelcomeCenter:Engagewiththepublicinthesecreativespaces
*PerformadditionalfunctionstosupportotherDCASEevents,includinggreeting,wayfinding,check-in,set-up,



Surveyassistance,andvariousduties


MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
*Mustbe18yearsofageorolder
*Excellentcommunicationskills
*Excellentcustomerserviceskills
*KnowledgeofChicagoandtheLoop,arts,andevents
*Generallyabletovolunteer6-12hourspermonth
*Mustbereliableandontime
*Basiccomputerknowledgeandaccesstoemail
