Overview
The Director of Spa will be responsible for the overall operational function and management of the spa and will demonstrate leadership throughout the spa and resort to maximize guest and team satisfaction. This role is responsible for all spa policies and procedures and has direct supervision for the Spa Manager along with the Nail Technicians, Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Hair Stylists and Spa Concierge.
Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors the budget plus manages expenses within the approved budget constraints for the entire Spa
- Manages the Spa team and develops relationships with all guests and vendors.
- To create, maintain and oversee a marketable and profitable Spa while meeting/exceeding financial goals
- To directly supervise the Spa Manager plus the therapists and technicians
- To actively create and promote special promotions and events
- To actively create and promote local day guest business through gift cards, special occasion celebrations and holiday events
- To assist in promoting and marketing the Spa to Hotel Guests
- To provide personal attention to the guests
- To administer policies and procedures
- Stays “in tune” with the spa industry and adjusts to or creates trends
- Attends product knowledge trainings
Qualifications
- Degree or professional credentials in spa services, massage therapy, or cosmetology preferred
- Minimum of 5 years spa management experience in an upscale hotel or resort strongly preferred
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Familiarization with Resort Suite
- Must possess the skills necessary to oversee direct responsibility departments not only technically but also from a hospitality, motivation, and long-term planning perspective
- Must possess the organizational skills necessary to schedule the various groups who will use the Spa
- Must be proficient in sales, public relations, and marketing strategies
- Must have business skills in management, budgeting, etc.
- Must have TABC and Food Handler's certificate or ability to acquire both if hired
- Must be able to listen, communicate and assess situations with accuracy
- Must be goal and result-oriented while simultaneously being a problem solver
- Must exhibit a sincere desire and ability to work well with people, assess their needs and be able to provide assistance
- Requires working knowledge of Excel and Word. SpaSoft experience preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
