Description Come join our awesome team as Therapeutic Recreation Director at Senior CommUnity Care of Kentucky—PACE. We are offering rewarding work, flexible schedule, and great benefits! You will be involved in the implementation of a new Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly model—centered on the belief that the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families are better served in the community.

Bring your expertise and skills to serve as a member of the IDT to help manage the complex medical, functional, and social needs of older adults in the implementation of PACE in Kentucky. PACE works to maximize the independence of elders in addressing their unique needs and desire to live safely in the community.

Senior Community Care of KY PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

Pay: $52,000 - $60,000

About the Job: Coordinate social, recreational, purposeful and spiritual activities to participants , whose needs include psychological, physical and cognitive challenges. Under the supervision of the Center Manager, and as a member of the Senior CommUnity Care Program assesses the needs, interests and capabilities of participants and develops individualized therapeutic recreation plans. In addition, plans, organizes, directs and participates in a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program tailored to the general and individualized needs and limitations of frail elderly program participants. Provides leadership and support to Recreation Assistant.

Design and implement a lifestyle plan for the entire building, including monthly scheduling of activities for entire building and maintaining a supply of inventory of necessary materials.

Manages monthly and yearly budgets for departments.

Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Maintains regular attendance at, and participants in, Interdisciplinary Team meetings; communicates participant changes, collaborates on plan of care decisions and coordination for twenty-four (24) hour care delivery.

Attends training offered by the National Services office or other organizations (e.g., Alzheimer’s Association) in programming and creative ideas for an activity-focused philosophy.

Provides recreational educational and training to support Activity Assistants, and other PACE Center staff members, as appropriate.

Plans and implements activities for dementia-specific population. Oversees daily flow of dementia activities area. Activities may focus on small groups, one-on-one programming and sensory stimulation.

Responsible for the creation of the monthly resident newsletter and ensuring distribution to all in the building as well as resident family members

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation; or bachelor’s degree with major concentration in a human service area; or completion of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Minimum two (2) years experience in a management position in a health care setting.

If operating company vehicle you must be twenty-one (21) years of age and meet the MVR organization standards.
