Tax Accountant I, Sales and Use
assists with sales and use tax compliance including tax filings, research, audit support, and liability reviews for multiple entities completing new construction development, general contractor activity, property renovations, repairs, maintenance, and property management for a large portfolio of single-family residential rental properties and related amenities across many states.
Responsibilities
Prepares support and files monthly sales and use tax returns, processes ACH payments, provides account coding, and reconciles information to accounting.
Analyzes monthly activity for vendor compliance and use tax liability by reviewing payment support and applying jurisdiction tax rules and regulations.
Supports New Construction Development by verifying vendor information, preparing exemption certificates, maintaining a filing tracker, researching sales tax jurisdiction and rates, and preparing estimated sales tax liability for project budgets.
Develops and maintains expertise regarding sales and use tax regulations. Assists with research and providing audit support.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required
Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred
Experience with CRM, Yardi, and JD Edwards preferred
Intermediate to advanced level of Excel preferred
Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and follow‑up abilities
Effective written and verbal communication with vendors, co‑workers, and supervisors
Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously
Collaborative team player
Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment
Compensation The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $25.50 to $30.61 Hourly. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.
Additional Compensation This position is not bonus‑eligible.
