Key Responsibilities Financial Modeling & Project Analysis
Develop and maintain financial models for solar and energy storage projects, including project cash flows, savings analysis, and return metrics.
Perform detailed project financial analysis, including payback period, IRR, NPV, and lifecycle savings calculations.
Build and maintain advanced Excel models and analytical tools used to evaluate project economics and support sales quoting.
Analyze solar and battery storage prospects to determine the most economical system configuration based on site constraints, energy usage, utility rate structures, and regulatory factors.
Review and analyze client electric utility bills to evaluate energy consumption patterns, demand charges, and applicable rate plans.
Proposal Development & Cross-Functional Coordination
Support the development of customer proposals, financial summaries, and presentation materials for commercial solar and energy storage projects.
Coordinate closely with Business Development and Engineering teams to incorporate technical system designs, project costs, and engineering assumptions into financial models and proposal materials.
Assist in preparing large capital project proposals, ensuring financial assumptions and project analyses are accurate and clearly communicated.
Provide analytical insights and financial data for proposal documents and executive-level presentations.
Technical & Project Evaluation
Draft preliminary solar system layouts (roof, canopy, and ground‑mounted) based on recommended system design and client requirements.
Research local building codes, permitting requirements, and utility regulations to support project feasibility analysis.
Review easements and site constraints relevant to solar project development.
Data Analysis & Process Improvement
Develop and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets and analytical tools to support project evaluation and proposal generation.
Identify opportunities to improve and streamline the sales quoting and financial analysis process through automation or improved modeling methods.
Maintain and analyze databases of project and customer information to support sales strategy and pipeline development.
Market & Regulatory Research
Research government incentives, utility programs, and regulatory developments affecting solar and energy storage markets.
Provide insights to the Business Development team on policy or market changes that may impact project economics.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist in identifying and qualifying potential customers.
Support Business Development and executive initiatives as needed.
Requirements Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field
Previous professional experience in the solar industry
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, financial modeling, and large dataset analysis
Demonstrated experience building or working with financial models for capital projects
Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience evaluating commercial solar or energy storage projects
Familiarity with utility rate structures and energy consumption analysis
Experience with VBA, Power Query, Python, or other analytical tools
Experience supporting project finance or infrastructure investment analysis
