Lead Estimator - Bridges & Structures (Heavy Civil)
Location: Fremont, OH (Surrounding Area)
Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 (DOE) + flexibility to go higher for top candidates

We are seeking a Bridge / Structures Lead Estimator to drive estimating and preconstruction efforts within a growing Heavy Civil Division. This role focuses on high-impact infrastructure projects across ODOT, Ohio Turnpike, and municipal markets.
This is a leadership opportunity for a strategic, construction-minded estimator who understands means & methods, can evaluate risk, and confidently lead complex pursuits while mentoring the next generation of estimators.
️ What You'll Do
Lead all estimating efforts for bridge and structural projects
Develop bid strategies including pricing, risk assessment, contingencies, and resource planning
Deliver accurate, competitive estimates and schedules aligned with project goals
Provide go/no-go recommendations and strategic input to leadership
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with operations, engineering, and safety teams to ensure constructability-driven estimates
Lead value engineering initiatives focused on cost, schedule, safety, and quality
Support seamless transition from preconstruction to operations
Data, Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Leverage historical cost data and productivity benchmarks
Conduct post-bid and post-project reviews to refine future estimates
Contribute to departmental forecasting and budgeting
Leadership & Team Development
Mentor and develop estimating team members
Support recruiting and long-term succession planning
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7‑10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience (bridges/structures preferred)
Strong experience with ODOT, Ohio Turnpike, and/or municipal projects
Proven track record of delivering accurate, competitive bids on schedule
Technical Skills
Experience with P6 Scheduling (preferred)
Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid (preferred)
Strong understanding of means & methods, cost structures, and constructability
