Overview We seek a strong innovator, product developer, and communicator to join our editorial team as an Associate Editor. In this role you will research, conceive, and acquire 15 projects per year, including series and non-series books, across a variety of nonfiction categories. We are looking for a strong team player who’s interested in creating engaging new practical nonfiction from the ground up.
Job Duties
The Associate Editor will pitch projects to the Publishing Board and work with the team to hone the overall vision of the project.
The Associate Editor will conduct extensive market and audience research to justify and direct their acquisitions.
The Associate Editor will be responsible for identifying and contracting the right content expert to author these in-house developed ideas.
The Associate Editor will learn and follow internal processes and complete necessary project documentation.
The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage a number of projects in different stages of the editorial process, following each project through from idea generation to publication.
Qualifications
3+ years of editorial, marketing, or product development experience, preferably in trade book publishing
Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be a creative self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment
Must be sales and marketplace-driven
Familiarity with social listening and media monitoring tools a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
