
Event Manager
Kodiak Area Native Association, Kodiak, AK, United States
All KANA positions are based in Kodiak and are not eligible for remote work. Applicants must reside in Kodiak or be willing to relocate.
KANA’s standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, typically consisting of
7.5 paid working hours per day
plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (total of 8.5 hours on site per day).
The Event Manager will ensure the seamless execution of events, meetings, and administrative tasks. This role involves managing and coordinating every detail of internal and external events and meetings, encompassing logistics, vendor management, guest interactions, and working with administrative staff and leadership at KANA.

Leads the full lifecycle of event management, from initial concept through final execution, for internal and external events, including high-profile engagements.
Recruits, trains, supervises, and manages a team of staff and work closely with all departments, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver exceptional services.
Oversees and management of event planning and execution, ensuring seamless and successful outcomes.
Develops and manages event budgets, track expenses, and adhere to financial guidelines. Conducts post-event evaluations to assess success, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement in future events.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with community partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Serves as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, executive leadership, and key clients, managing high-level communications and securing necessary approvals.
Coordinates event logistics and develops efficient processes while communicating with attendees to address inquiries and needs.
Handles logistics such as venue selection, contract negotiation, transportation, audiovisual setup, and event timelines.
Oversees event setup and handles any issues or emergencies that may arise during the event.
Creates event timelines, schedules, and task assignments to ensure seamless delivery.
Ensures compliance with safety, accessibility, and operational policies for all events.
Maintains accurate records, contact lists, and documentation for ongoing reference and audits.
Provides administrative assistance to the organization, such as scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and managing correspondence.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provide direct oversight to Administrative support staff as assigned. Ensure the team has appropriate staffing, employee training, and high quality customer service. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolvingproblems.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hospitality, management or related field; or four years of related experience in event planning, coordination, and execution; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated project management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external partners. Ability to work independently, think creatively, and identify solutions in a timely manner. Knowledge of Alaska Native culture and communications preferred.
Additional Requirements Valid Driver’s License with three consecutive years of an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation or comfortability with driving a company-owned vehicle required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
