We are expanding our residential energy storage team and are seeking a senior-level specialist to guide strategy, product development, training, and technical support.

Position Summary

The Senior Residential Energy Storage Expert will serve as the company's internal and external authority on home battery storage systems. This role blends technical expertise, market strategy, product evaluation, training, and high-level support. The ideal candidate has deep experience with residential ESS (battery systems), hybrid inverters, off grid PV system design, codes/standards, interconnection requirements, and hands-on field experience. They will help shape the company's storage roadmap, evaluate new products, support sales teams, and act as a trusted advisor to installer partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in residential solar + energy storage system design, installation, engineering, product management, or technical support.

Deep knowledge of home battery systems, lithium-ion chemistries, hybrid inverters, backup applications, load management, and grid-interactive systems.

Proficiency with electrical codes and standards including NEC 690/705/706, UL 9540/9540A, IEEE 1547, and state utility interconnection rules.

Strong ability to troubleshoot complex power electronics and communication/networking issues.

Experience working with installer partners, EPCs, or distribution models.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

NABCEP PV Installation Professional or NABCEP Energy Storage certification.

Experience with top ESS brands (e.g., Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, Generac, FranklinWH, etc.).

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).

Familiarity with energy modeling tools (e.g., Aurora Solar, HelioScope, PVsyst) and monitoring platforms.

Working Conditions:

Office, warehouse and field. Work may require working in different climates. May travel by car or plane.

Essential Job Functions:

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Support

Serve as the primary technical expert for residential ESS technologies, system architecture, and integration with PV inverters and EV charging systems.

Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support to installers and internal teams for energy storage product selection, system configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty-related inquiries.

Conduct root-cause analysis for complex technical issues and coordinate with manufacturers to resolve product or firmware challenges.

Review and assist in the creation of system design proposals, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and energy modeling.

Product Strategy & Evaluation

Assess and compare residential storage systems-including batteries, hybrid inverters, transfer switches, load control systems, and communications platforms-to guide strategic product offerings.

Lead technical due diligence for onboarding new manufacturers and technologies.

Provide detailed feedback to product teams based on field performance, installer feedback, and emerging market needs.

Stay current with federal, state, and utility-level incentives, interconnection requirements, and evolving regulations (e.g., NEC, UL 9540/9540A testing, IEEE standards).

Training & Education

Develop and deliver technical training programs, webinars, and in-person workshops for installers, internal staff, and sales teams.

Create high-quality documentation including LCOE analysis, best practices guides, troubleshooting flows, and product comparison matrices.

Support sales teams with technical presentations and expert input during complex customer engagements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Manufacturer Relations teams.

Provide technical insights for forecasting, procurement planning, and inventory management.

Assist marketing in creating accurate and compelling technical content for product launches and campaigns.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $120000 to $125000 annually.
