Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Technology Sourcing, the Senior Director manages a team of Category Leads who support Corporate Applications, including on‑prem and SaaS agreements. The annual spend fluctuates based on contracting cycles but averages $250M across hundreds of suppliers. The role works closely with key stakeholders within the Technology organization—CTO, CIO, Technology CFO, and extended members of the Technology Leadership Team (TLT)—to provide subject‑matter expertise, deep market insights, and strategic guidance, ultimately delivering material savings.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a broad book of business, addressing a multitude of priorities in support of senior technology leaders.
  • Build and enhance relationships with the TLT and develop sourcing strategies that meet their requirements while managing risk and achieving cost efficiencies.
  • Assist the VP Technology Procurement in communicating status to the Technology Business Office, and examine process‑improvement opportunities to streamline end‑to‑end times, reduce overhead, and improve engagement.
  • Ensure Global Procurement enhances its buying power through cross‑functional and geographic activities across all areas, leveraging Visa’s global buying power.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to evaluate technology investment plans, identify sourcing opportunities, and drive the sourcing pipeline to deliver cost savings.
  • Manage suppliers and plans for use of suppliers in connection with the implementation of technology strategies and goals.
  • Lead a high‑performing team of category leads responsible for proactively managing supplier relationships in defined categories to deliver cost savings and enhanced services.
  • Lead a multi‑location team that conducts complex analyses—opportunity assessments, market benchmarking, spend analysis, cost modeling, and financial impact analysis—to support strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Lead and facilitate supplier selection and contract negotiations, involving Legal, Finance, Risk, and other stakeholders, to achieve favorable terms on quality, delivery, and price while delivering substantial, consistent cost savings.

This is a hybrid position. Expected days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 10+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or 5+ years with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 12+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), or 9+ years with a PhD.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced business or legal degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible technology sourcing management experience.
  • 5+ years of technology sourcing experience.
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiations and drafting.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and business judgment; ability to anticipate impacts of decisions and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, ability to drive consensus and influence leaders across regions and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a high‑performing team that partners with business owners to drive change and deliver significant value.
  • Superior analytical, financial modeling, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Flexible, creative thinker with ability to define trade‑offs, generate out‑of‑the‑box solutions, manage uncertainty, and anticipate impacts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, interpersonal and presentation skills, and proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements; ability to work effectively with stakeholders to ensure compliance and minimize risk.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: 5–10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: The position will be performed in an office setting, requiring the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is $189,800.00 to $332,100.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job‑related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
