Summer Tennis Director

Work for New HYTEs this summer coaching and mentoring New Haven students!

New Haven Youth Tennis and Education is a sports-based youth development organization providing academic support, tennis instruction, and enrichment through after school and summer programming to historically under-resourced students in New Haven, Connecticut.

Program Dates:

June 29-July 31 (closed July 3)

Staff orientation:

June 24-26

Location:

On the campus of the Hopkins School, 986 Forest Road, New Haven, CT

Duties:

• Work from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm each weekday during the program
• Lead a team of one paid tennis pro (adult) and volunteer tennis coaches (teens)
• With the team, plan and implement group tennis lessons for around 60 students per day, from beginning to advanced intermediate levels
• Ensure participation and safety on the tennis courts
• Enjoys working with kids and teens
• Able and willing to mentor a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and students
• Capable of taking initiative and making flexible decisions in order to meet students where they are, respond to weather or safety issues, and support young staff
• Comfortable creating a fun environment while also providing firm direction and feedback as needed
• Leads with positivity and energy
• Teaching experience is a plus
• Must be age 21 or older
