Description

The Director of Photo Production leads the strategic planning and execution of photoshoot production across the brand. The role guides cross‑functional teams, oversees key partners, and optimizes production operations to deliver exceptional creative work with operational rigor and financial discipline. As a senior creative operations leader, you will partner with top industry talent to shape the future of storytelling for a global audience.

Your Impact

Creative & Production Leadership

  • Partner with the Executive Producer and senior Creative leadership to define and execute the creative production strategy for all brand photo and video initiatives.
  • Provide oversight across Photo, Still Life & Video Production and Pre‑Production workflows, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment.
  • For shoots owned, manage bookings of photographers, talent, creative crews, studios, production teams, and locations for global campaigns.
  • Manage travel and logistics for domestic and international shoots, ensuring operational efficiency in partnership with Travel & Expense.
  • Ensure organizational compliance by partnering with legal and compliance teams on all releases, contracts, and production documentation.
  • Oversee negotiations for talent and production budgets, driving cost efficiencies while supporting high creative standards and strong vendor relationships.
  • Manage the brand’s photo production calendar and oversee distribution across all business partners.
  • Oversee creation and approval of call sheets, shoot plans, location libraries, and production templates.
  • Manage postproduction teams for photography and video: ensuring workflows are properly scheduled, teams are clear, and the process is efficient.
  • Provide operational support by developing systems, tools, and communication decks that support senior leadership alignment across creative, operations, and finance.

Finance/Budget

  • Support Executive Producer in the build out of annual multimillion‑dollar photo and video budget in partnership with SVP Marketing and Finance.
  • Own and oversee shoot budgets, driving financial efficiency and cost optimization across productions.
  • Oversee all financial processes including advances, invoices, usage agreements, and post‑production billing to ensure alignment with budget.
  • Lead reconciliation and financial tracking for all productions, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely processing with Accounts Payable.
  • Act as the executive decisionmaker for all creative and financial considerations when Executive Producer is not available.
  • Approve all estimates from photographers, stylists, art crews, set designers, models, and production companies, and lead negotiations to align talent with photoshoot budget targets.
  • Ensure all creative production personnel—photographers, models, crews, and locations—align with brand identity and support evolving creative vision.
  • Lead the evaluation and recommendation of new photographers, stylists, hair/makeup artists, production partners, and creative talent to strengthen the brand’s talent ecosystem.

Minimum Salary: $152,300.00

Maximum Salary: $216,090.00

VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead large‑scale, multi‑channel shoot production teams and manage complex, high‑visibility campaigns.
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership skills, with the ability to drive change, build systems, and develop talent.
  • Exceptional relationship‑building abilities across creative, merchandising, operations, finance, and external partners.
  • Advanced financial acumen with experience managing multimillion‑dollar budgets.
  • Highly organized, detail‑driven, and able to prioritize in fast‑paced environments with shifting business needs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years producing experience in fashion/retail (print and digital) with 5+ years in leadership or project management roles.
  • Proficiency in MAC/PC, Word, Excel, Smartsheet, InDesign, and Keynote.

LOCATION/TRAVEL

Based in New York City; Travel required (shoots/locations).
