Temporary Billing & Payments Specialist
As a Temporary Billing & Payments Specialist, you'll support day-to-day billing and payment operations during a defined contract period. This role ensures timely and accurate processing, reconciliation, and documentation of member payments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-based environment. What you'll do: Process incoming and outgoing insurance-related payments, including but not limited to premium payments, member refunds, and agent commissions Reconcile daily payments with internal insurance and payment systems, including variance analysis Analyze and execute member payment adjustments Accurately allocate and apply payments to customer policies in the insurance system Identify and escalate payment discrepancies or exceptions Maintain up-to-date records and support audit trails This might describe you: Experienced in billing, treasury operations, or finance Basic understanding of payment types (ACH, wire, checks) and reconciliation practices Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Strong attention to detail and time management skills Insurance industry knowledge is an asset, but not required Other things to note: This position will run from March to September 2026. This temporary position requires the employee to work onsite in the Traverse City office Monday through Friday. Candidates must be based in the Traverse City area. Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
