Underwriting Technician
Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriting Technician in our Industry Practice Large Property Team. As an Underwriting Technician, you'll manage policy submissions and ensure timely processing and delivery of quotes, binders, and policies to producers, meeting established service standards. You'll also support the underwriting team by providing technical analysis and insights to help evaluate risk and inform decisions. This position will be based out of our New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Alpharetta, GA and Morristown, NY offices. What you'll be doing: Assist underwriters with reviewing submissions, quoting, binding, policy issuance, and endorsement workflows Create, register, process and distribute binders, policies, and endorsements within processing standards Assist in the development and maintenance of underwriting workflows and procedures, ensuring accurate and complete documentation for all bound accounts Prepare all policies in accordance with final binders inclusive of review by underwriting staff Review and analyze facultative reinsurance certificates as determined by management Proactively communicate with producers for any outstanding information and ensure timely follow-up to support the underwriting process Implement and maintain a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry Provide backup support to team members to ensure continuity of operations and maintain service standards What you'll bring: Minimum 5 years of experience in underwriting or insurance support with similar responsibilities Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas to drive our business Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently Salary Range: $60,000.00-$95,000.00 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
