Director of Security Architecture & Engineering

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Director of Security Architecture & Engineering for a full-time direct hire position. The candidate will lead secure cloud design primarily for Azure and advance security engineering capabilities including SIEM and enterprise telemetry. This role encompasses both leadership and hands‑on work within a lean security organization, focusing on cloud architecture and security engineering to facilitate effective detection and response across the environment.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve secure cloud architecture for Azure and AWS, implementing scalable security guardrails across identity, networking, encryption, and workload protection.
• Establish cloud security standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and Secure SDLC practices, embedding secure-by-design principles into engineering workflows.
• Lead cloud architecture reviews and threat modeling initiatives, ensuring scalable and compliant cloud deployments by partnering with engineering teams.
• Own the strategy and maturity roadmap for SIEM and enterprise telemetry, enhancing detection coverage and signal quality.
• Oversee enterprise security tools, ensuring integration and operational effectiveness.
• Establish logging and telemetry standards across systems to improve monitoring and reduce noise.
• Align cloud security architecture with enterprise IAM standards, integrating access models within cloud environments.
• Engage in security engineering and operational efforts, providing escalation support during security events.
• Translate architectural and engineering decisions into measurable risk reduction and provide executive-level updates on cloud posture and cyber risk trends.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in cybersecurity with extensive cloud security architecture experience.
• Deep expertise in Azure security with working knowledge of AWS.
• Experience designing and operating security controls within CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code workflows.
• Strong hands‑on experience in security engineering and enterprise SIEM platforms.
• Experience with IAM control integration into cloud security architecture.
• Comfort with strategic leadership and tactical engagement in a lean environment.
• Ability to translate technical risk into business impact.
