Overview Responsible for designing and enhancing digital applications to ensure they are appealing, easy to use, effective, and aligned with audience needs. Applies experience with B2B and B2C applications and wireframe tools to gather user requirements, design graphic elements, and develop navigation components. Utilizes user research, iterative interface design, prototyping, and testing to solve user experience challenges while collaborating within a team environment and staying current on emerging developments in the field. Major Functions Lead client-facing design discovery sessions to translate user and stakeholder input into user experience requirements, user flows, and interface concepts that support defined business objectives. Develop, document, and evolve UI/UX best practices for the most frequently used product components to ensure consistency, usability, scalability and long-term maintainability across the platform. Conduct user research (surveys, focus groups, etc.) to document personas and validate end-user requirements. Develop intuitive information architecture structures and navigational paths through careful content analysis, card sorting and site mapping to improve usability and engagement. Research and analyze industry UX/UI trends and competitor sites and strategies to inform design direction and continuous product improvement. Create interactive wireframes, sitemaps, user flows and functional specifications to support development handoff. Design graphic user interface elements, including menus, tabs, widgets and other interactive components aligned to established design standards. Conduct task-based usability testing, document findings, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve user experience. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure UI/UX designs meet accessibility compliance requirements (WCAG/Section 508) and promote equitable, inclusive user experiences. Identify UX issues within core product components and recommend design enhancements aligned with established UI/UX standards and platform guidelines. Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback and performance data. Create and govern style standards for fonts, colors and imagery, and reusable interface components. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. At least three (3) years professional work experience in UX/UI design, or related discipline. Experience creating user flows, wireframes, sitemaps, and interactive prototypes. Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design principles, methodologies, and best practices. Experience participating in cross-functional requirements discovery and iterative design processes. Proficiency in user research and usability testing techniques, including personas development, task analysis, user interviews, surveys, card sorting, prototype validation, and task-based usability testing. Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG/Section 508) and inclusive design principles. Experience with modern UX design and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, or comparable platforms). Familiarity with front-end technologies and design frameworks such as CSS, Bootstrap, or Material Design. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document design decisions and present concepts to stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively. SME is currently unable to hire employees residing in California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - 105,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Offers typically fall within this range based on individual qualifications and budget availability.
