JOB DESCRIPTION RockForce Live Event & Payroll is seeking a detail‑oriented Tax & Payroll Compliance Specialist to support Employer of Record (EOR) and corporate payroll operations. The role is centered on payroll tax compliance, with a strong emphasis on multi‑state registrations, ongoing agency account maintenance, and end‑to‑end payroll tax remittance and reporting oversight through ADP SmartCompliance. Sales and use tax responsibilities are included but represent a smaller portion of the overall scope.
Payroll Tax Compliance
State and local payroll tax account registrations and ongoing account maintenance, including SIT, SUI, local taxes, and state‑specific programs such as Paid Family Leave (FMLA/PFL).
Remittance and reporting oversight of ADP SmartCompliance, including funding, filings, reconciliations, variance resolution, and agency communications.
Multi‑state payroll tax compliance for EOR employees and corporate payroll across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
Review of payroll tax filings and payments for accuracy and timeliness, with investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
Primary point of contact for payroll tax notices, audits, discrepancies, and agency correspondence.
Support of year‑end payroll tax processes, including W‑2s, W‑3s, and state and local reconciliations.
Partnership with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll tax setup, maintenance, and internal controls within payroll systems.
Sales & Use Tax
Support sales and use tax compliance activities across applicable jurisdictions as needed.
Assist with preparation, filing, and reconciliation of sales and use tax returns.
Maintain tax calendars and support responses to sales tax notices or audits.
Assist with exemption certificate tracking and documentation where required.
Accounting & Finance Support
Assist with payroll‑related account reconciliations and liability balances.
Support month‑end close activities related to payroll tax reporting.
Maintain documentation and schedules supporting payroll tax compliance and internal controls.
Qualifications Required:
2–5 years of experience in payroll tax compliance or payroll accounting.
Hands‑on experience with multi‑state payroll tax registrations and ongoing agency account maintenance.
Experience working with payroll tax engines or compliance platforms (ADP SmartCompliance strongly preferred).
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong Excel and payroll system proficiency.
Preferred:
Experience supporting EOR, PEO, or professional services payroll environments.
Exposure to sales and use tax compliance in a multi‑state environment.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
