Job Summary The Part‑Time Organist at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church supports the parish’s liturgical life by providing sacred music that enhances worship and reflects the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. This part‑time role collaborates with clergy, liturgy staff, cantors, and choir members to plan and perform appropriate music for assigned Masses and liturgical celebrations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide organ and/or piano accompaniment for assigned weekend Masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, and other liturgical services as scheduled.

Select and perform sacred music appropriate to the Catholic liturgical calendar and parish guidelines.

Collaborate with clergy, liturgy coordinators, cantors, and choir members to plan music for worship services.

Accompany cantors and choirs and assist with rehearsals as needed.

Maintain a high standard of musical preparation and professionalism for all services.

Support congregational singing through appropriate accompaniment and leadership.

Adhere to parish policies, diocesan liturgical norms, and scheduling expectations.

Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a respectful demeanor consistent with the mission of the parish.

Qualifications

Proficiency in organ performance; piano proficiency strongly preferred.

Ability to read music and accompany vocalists and congregational singing.

Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacred music traditions (preferred).

Prior experience as a church organist or liturgical musician (preferred).

Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Commitment to supporting the worship life and mission of St. Mark Catholic Church.
