Job Title Summer STEM Camp Assistant

Hours 15-35 hours per week; shifts available Monday-Friday as early as 8:15am and as late as 4:30pm

Status Temporary; hourly, non‑exempt; season begins June 8th and runs through September 4th, 2026

Pay $13.50 - $15.00/hour

Location Most programs take place at The Works Museum in Bloomington. Some outreach programs take place in St. Paul, Golden Valley, Hopkins, and other metro area locations.

About The Works Museum At The Works Museum, everyone engineers. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem solvers. Through hands‑on exhibits, camps, and educational programs, we spark excitement for science and engineering in all children.

Responsibilities

Assist Educators in creating a welcoming and friendly environment for children in The Works Museum’s hands‑on engineering camps

Supervise campers during check‑in/out, lunch, recess, and transition times

Maintain a safe environment for campers and staff

Support campers as they engage with hands‑on activities in camp

Provide basic behavior support for campers in need of classroom breaks

Communicate with teachers and supervisors about medical, behavioral, or facilities issues in need of higher attention

Assist Educators with classroom clean‑up and resetting

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must be age 16 or older

Ability to represent The Works with enthusiasm and professionalism

Be friendly, positive, and outgoing with fellow staff, campers, and their families

Be respectful of Minnesota’s many cultures

Have excellent problem‑solving skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

At least 3 months experience in a customer‑service environment

At least 3 months experience working with kids ages 5‑12

Experience or strong interest in hands‑on science, engineering, or art education for elementary school aged children, desired

Experience with robotics or NXT, LEGO, or coding is a plus
